On March 29th, Galactic will embark on their 2004 Midwest Tour. For this time round, Galactic will enlist a barrage of exciting artists. The first several dates will feature opening performances by the multi-talented Media Darling Underground Hip Hop Showcase. This exciting ensemble includes some of New Orleans brightest young talents, including DJ Lady Fingaz, this year's winner of Offbeat Magazine's Best Emerging Hip Hop performer of the year award. Taking part in these performances will also be All Star spinster DJ Quicky Mart and master lyricist Bionik Brown. Media Darling's most recent release, 2004's The Humid Sounds of Media Darling, took home the Offbeat award for best hip-hop album of the year. These performances promise to keep Galactic fans in tune with the future of Hip Hop!

On the latter portion of the tour, Galactic fans will be blessed with the astonishing guitar work of Buckethead. Buckethead will perform solo on several dates beginning on April 6th. Buckethead's impressive resume displays his ability to excel in multiple musical genres including rock, hip-hop, metal and jazz. Throughout the years he has performed alongside Les Claypool, Bill Laswell, Bernie Worrell and even did a stint with Guns n' Roses. www.bucketheadland.com.

Another incredible Mardi Gras has come and gone. For this year's festivities Galactic enlisted the help of a seemingly endless slew of special guests that joined the band throughout their annual couplet of marathon shows at Tipitina's. On Saturday night Papa Mali opened and later joined Galactic on several selections including the classic Meters tune, “Hey Pocky Way”. Later in the night, the band was joined by legendary NOLA vocalist and percussionist Cyril Neville. The steady stream of guests continued late into the show with guitarist Jonathan Freilich and Anders Osborne joining in on a ripping double encore of "Crossroads" and "Junco Partner".

Lundi Gras picked up right where Saturday left off as the band delivered a full night of high energy funk that stretched all the way through until sunrise. This time Athens GA's Tishamingo set the tone for the evening with an inspired opening set. The special guest theme continued on this night although focusing more on drummers as Stanton welcomed guest percussionists to sit in throughout the night. This extensive list included, Better Than Ezra's Travis McNabb and the Neville Brother's “Mean” Willie Greene. Galactic seemed impervious to fatigue and kept the energy extraordinarily high throughout the night reaching a crescendo in the third set as the sun streamed in through the windows of Tipitina's signaling the arrival of Fat Tuesday. Eventually everyone filed out of the doors satisfied with a full night of music under their belts and headed off to join the rest of New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras day.

We are proud to offer these essential Galactic performances through www.livegalactic.com. These shows are available for download in both MP3 or CD-quality lossless formats (FLAC). LiveGalactic.com files may be burned freely to CD, transferred to portable MP3 players, or played through your PC or Mac. Each Live Galactic show comes with custom printable booklets, tray inlays, and labels if you elect to burn your files to CD.  The Mardi Gras show downloads can be purchased individually or as a discounted complete set.

The NOLA Jazzfest 2005 calendar will kick off in proper fashion with a couple of Galactic club shows during the first weekend. On Thursday April 21st the band will ring in Jazzfest with the Spam All-Stars at Tipitina's Uptown. On the flip side of the weekend, Galactic sets up shop for an appearance at the House of Blues on Sunday, April 24th. The Jazzfest festivities are sure to heat up on the second weekend when Galactic throws their now annual State Palace bash to be held this year on Friday, April 29th. This show has deservedly become a Fest highlight for Galactic fans who will be in for another treat this time around as Galactic welcomes special guest Keller Williams. The very next day the band will be out in full force at the Fairgrounds for their 2005 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage performance, rounding out what promises to be an amazing stretch of music.

Galactic's new album Ruckus is a product of the rapid evolution of the band during the past several years. Working with renowned hip-hop producer, Dan "the Automator" Nakamura (Prince Paul, Gorillaz and Dr. Octagon), intensified the band's focus on songwriting. The final product of this perfect collaboration is Galactic's finest and most adventurous work to date. "Ruckus" pushes the band's creativity to the limit without diffusing the trademark Galactic groove.
