We are proud to announce the addition of Galactic's 2005 Mardi Gras shows from Tipitina's in New Orleans to the LiveGalactic.com online digital catalogue. These marathon performances capture the band in top form and clearly demonstrate why Galactic is a yearly centerpiece of the carnival festivities. A slew of special guests streamed on stage throughout both performances. Saturday night featured sit-ins by Papa Mali and Cyril Neville and then Anders Osborne who joined in for a ripping double cover encore of Crossroads and Junco Partner.
Lundi Gras picked up right where Saturday left off as the band delivered a full night of high energy funk that stretched all the way through until sunrise. The special guest theme continued on this night although focusing more on drummers as Stanton welcomed guest percussionists to sit in throughout the night. This extensive list included, Better Than Ezra’s Travis McNabb and the Neville Brother’s “Mean” Willie Greene. Galactic seemed impervious to fatigue and kept the energy extraordinarily high throughout the show which spanned seven hours leading into Fat Tuesday.
